Senator Steve Oroho (R-24) was chosen by the New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA) to receive its “Paul L. Troast Public Service Award.” The NJBIA presents the Troast Award annually to a public servant who has made an outstanding contribution to the State of New Jersey and its business community.

“I am honored to be chosen to receive this award and am grateful to NJBIA for its commitment to the business community of New Jersey,” said Oroho. “Given these difficult economic times, we need to focus on creating private-sector jobs and economic growth opportunities. I look forward to working with NJBIA and other business groups on that goal and making New Jersey a more competitive state in which to do business and create jobs.”

Senator Oroho, who sits on the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and the Economic Growth Committee, was appointed by Governor Chris Christie to also serve on the Governor’s Red Tape Review Commission. The group reviews state rules, regulations and Executive Orders to promote government efficiency, reduce uncertainty in dealing with government agencies and create a stable environment for businesses that want to grow in the state.

Oroho was also the prime sponsor of several legislative initiatives that were recently signed into law including legislation that streamlines New Jersey’s cumbersome business tax structure and measures that make the state’s regulatory structure less burdensome.

Oroho was recognized as well recently by both the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and the New Jersey Society for Environmental, Economic Development (NJ SEED) as “Legislator of the Year.”

“As a state Senator, I do everything I can to advance an economic agenda that helps businesses achieve long-term success and create job opportunities for residents that will strengthen our state’s financial standing, ” concluded Oroho.

The New Jersey Business and Industry Association will present the award to Senator Oroho on December 13, at the Association’s Public Policy Forum. Also being honored with the Troast Award is Senate President Stephen Sweeney. Senator Sweeney also shared the Legislator of the Year Award from the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce with Senator Oroho.
