Senators Michael Doherty and Steve Oroho and Assemblymen Alison Littell McHose and Gary Chiusano, announced today that they will hold a town hall meeting this Friday, September 30, at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers of the Sparta Township Municipal Building located at 65 Main Street in Sparta.
Senator Doherty will make a presentation on a new school funding formula that is fair and equitable to all students in the state — suburban, rural, urban. The new formula would be implemented by a constitutional amendment that would have to be approved by the voters. Senator Oroho and Assemblymen McHose and Chiusano are sponsors of this proposal as well.
The proposed constitutional amendment will provide equal school aid for each student, regardless of where the student resides. New Jersey needs to establish a fair, simple, transparent and straightforward educational funding formula that takes the income tax fund and distributes the fund equally to each student.
