Senator Robert W. Singer (R- Ocean/Mercer/Burlington/Monmouth) today lauded Governor Christie’s approval of $157 million in funding for local preservation and recreation projects. The funds were appropriated as part of New Jersey’s “Green Acres” program to help municipalities and counties acquire lands for preservation or recreational development.

“Preserving land for public benefit is all the more important when you live in the most densely populated state in America,” said Singer. “Since its inception, Green Acres has been highly successful in helping local government defray the cost of preserving or developing desirable spaces for recreational use. The latest round of funding authorized by law today will help communities in our area maintain the quality of life that residents expect and deserve.”

Local projects and grants included in the legislation signed by Governor Christie today are as follows:

Planning Incentive Grant (Ocean County): $900, 000

Planning Incentive Acquisition (Allentown): $350, 000

Planning Incentive (Millstone): $450, 000

Open Space Preservation (Upper Freehold): $450, 000

Open Space Preservation (Jackson): $675, 000

Planning Incentive Grant (Howell): $675, 000

Open Space Preservation (Manasquan): $450, 000

Open Space Preservation (Wall): $450, 000
