Senator Christopher “Kip” Bateman (Somerset/Morris), a member of the Senate Environment Committee, issued the following statement today after Governor Chris Christie revealed the state’s 2011 draft Energy Master Plan:
“The Governor’s plan lays a strong foundation to expand on our state’s energy independence while protecting the environment and growing the economy. By putting a bigger emphasis on cleaner technologies and green jobs, the plan put forth will permit New Jersey to reduce its energy consumption, and at the same time lower our emissions of greenhouse gases.
“Consumers and small business owners will also be pleased to know the plan addresses both our state’s short-term and long-term energy needs with a focus on lowering costs.
“I look forward to reviewing the plan in more detail and working with the administration and my colleagues in the Legislature to implement sound public policy that secures New Jersey’s energy future.”
