Senate Republican Leader Anthony Bucco said if Senate Democrats cared about the mindset of parents they would work with Republicans to achieve bipartisan solutions that respect parental rights in New Jersey. Instead, the Democratic majority in the Senate has refused to act for 231 days.

“Parents are rightfully concerned that the Murphy administration is interfering with their ability to have an active role in their children’s education. Consider the recent lawsuits brought by the Attorney General’s Office to sue school districts. This is the Murphy administration unnecessarily inserting their extreme agenda into school districts to prevent parents from being notified about critical information regarding their child,” said Bucco (R-25). “If Democrats want to show parents that they care, return to Trenton and work with Republicans to achieve a bipartisan solution that respects parents, teachers, and their school district’s ability to make the best decisions for their children. We’ve said it before, and we’ll continue to say it, children succeed best when parents and teachers are partners.”

The Senate Education Committee last held a public hearing on March 2, 2023.
