Legislation sponsored by Senator Anthony M. Bucco that designates the Harter Road Interchange of Interstate Highway Route 287 as the Warren E. Wilhide Interchange was approved by the Transportation Committee.

Legislation sponsored by Sen. Tony Bucco designating a portion of Interstate Highway 287 after Warren E. Wilhide Sr. was approved by the Senate Transportation Committee. (

“As a long-time resident of Morris Township, United States Army Veteran Warren E. Wilhide Sr. was well-known for his dedication to serving others,” said Bucco (R-25). “Mr. Wilhide’s service in the military and in his community epitomized what it means to be a leader. My legislation will formally commemorate his legacy by designating a portion of Route 287 in his honor.”

Warren E. Wilhide Sr. honorably served during the Korean War and was an active volunteer, donating his time to a relief group in Haiti, a children’s hospital in Morocco, and to students learning math and science in Tanzania.

In 1995, Mr. Wilhide played an instrumental role in designating Interstate 287 as the Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway and provided additional designations along the interstate for fellow service members in 1998.

Bucco’s legislation, S-3005, will now add Mr. Wilhide’s name to a portion of the interstate to pay tribute to his leadership, compassion, and contributions to the community.

“I am proud to recognize Mr. Wilhide for all of his efforts to make the world, and our state, a better and safer place,” added Bucco. “His memory will now live on forever along the portion of Interstate Highway Route 287 that runs through Morris Township.”
