“Over the weekend, we marked the 10 years since Superstorm Sandy hammered our area like no other natural disaster in our lifetimes, and today, we remember the anniversary of the beginning of massive recovery work.

“In Ocean County, we were at the epicenter of Sandy’s horrific impact, and New Jersey residents both near and far expressed concerns that the beloved Shore towns may never bounce back. But we refused to be beaten by the storm. Homeowners and business owners who invested their money and their hearts in the communities they love refused to be beaten. Residents and tourists, along with local, county and state representatives, rallied as one to begin the enormous task of cleaning up and restoring coastal communities and the crucial summer economy.

“Together we worked so hard to overcome Sandy’s devastation. We’re proud of our efforts on the ground in Ocean County and at the State House in Trenton, and we are humbled as we reflect on the resolute dedication and resilience of the volunteers, contractors, property owners, and everyone else who would settle for nothing less than restoring the Shore.

“We worked so hard to get here, and the Shore is back after a long, arduous recovery that unofficially started 10 years ago today.”
