“We have heard from many constituents who live in adult communities (age 55 and older) that they would like to be vaccinated at a site within their community,” said Singer. “Many of the people who live in these age restricted communities are older and many do not drive or drive long distances.”
The lawmakers noted in a letter sent to Murphy Wednesday the need to vaccinate senior citizens in adult communities in Monmouth and Ocean counties, which have large senior populations.
“Providing the opportunity to be vaccinated right in their own community would be a tremendous relief to these senior citizens,” said Kean.
The difficulty with online scheduling is another reason the legislators cited vaccinations are needed in these communities.
“We have heard from hundreds of seniors who still cannot schedule appointments online,” concluded Thomson. “There still is a great need for people to be able to make appointments without using a computer.”
