According to a report published Thursday by NorthJersey.com, New Jersey is in line to receive close to $16 million from an opioid legal settlement with the firm, McKinsey & Company. The money is part of a $573 million settlement shared by 47 states.

“The deplorable actions of this company helped drug manufacturers deluge our communities with opioids and led to an epidemic of overdose deaths,” said Corrado. “Their reprehensible plans included encouraging one company to offer distributors a bonus for every OxyContin overdose.

“McKinsey was willing to place bounties on human life, yet the Governor is comfortable paying them – trusting them – for advice on handling the pandemic,” said Corrado. “The very thought of it is nauseating.”

According to NorthJersey.com, McKinsey will receive $35 million in fees from New Jersey for COVID-related consultation. The contract runs through 2022.
