Governor Murphy today signed Senator Steve Oroho’s resolution establishing an annual Manufacturing Week in New Jersey.

Senator Oroho’s bill creating an annual Manufacturing Week in New Jersey and heralding a renewed commitment to this vital sector of the state economy was signed by the Governor today. (

“New Jersey has one of the most educated and skilled workforces in the nation, and our key geographic location provides manufacturers with the infrastructure for ready, wide-scale distribution of products and services,” said Oroho, the co-chair of the bipartisan Legislative Manufacturing Caucus.

“Dedicating this week to manufacturing helps re-emphasize New Jersey as a commerce hub in the region and a welcoming location for business and capital investment. We are seeing an expansion of manufacturing in our state, and this will help advocate for training programs necessary to fill the need and highlight good-paying career opportunities,” said Oroho.

Designating the first week of October of each year as Manufacturing Week, the bipartisan bill (SJR-57) heralds a strong commitment to this vital sector of the state economy and encompasses the Manufacturing Day event staged by the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program each October. This year’s event will be held remotely on Oct. 2.

More than 11,000 manufacturers are located in New Jersey, employing almost 400,000 skilled workers.

New Jersey is home to a variety of manufacturers and four key sectors of advanced manufacturing are prominent: chemicals, machinery, computer/electronic products, and food. These industries contribute significantly to the State’s economy, and were particularly critical during this pandemic period.
