“I am pleased that over $5 million dollars is being invested in Hunterdon, Somerset, and Warren counties to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure,” said Doherty. “New Jerseyans have the highest tax burden in the country. This return on investment to rebuild the roads in our backyard will make the daily commutes easier and more enjoyable for so many residents.”

The Department of Transportation recently announced its Municipal Aid Program, which will distribute $161 million dollars to a majority of New Jersey towns and cities in 2018.

Legislative District 23 will receive $5,170,315 for road projects throughout the three counties.

“Our property taxes have reached a tipping point,” remarked DiMaio. “These grants will help our towns’ complete vital roadwork without increasing the tax burden on New Jerseyans.”

“Investing in infrastructure is crucial to the welfare of our residents,” added Peterson. “Having safe and well-maintained roads will also make New Jersey more attractive to families and businesses.”
