Senator Gerald Cardinale joined with a bipartisan group of Bergen County legislators this week in sending a letter to Bergen County officials urging them to support the plan to extend the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail service.
The long anticipated expansion project would extend the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail into Bergen County with a final stop at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. The letter, signed by Cardinale and nine other legislators, was sent Tuesday to Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan and the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
“It’s going to take unified support from all levels of government to see this important expansion through to completion,” said Cardinale (R-Bergen, Passaic). “Extending the rail service in Bergen County will significantly increase the use of mass transit, ease congestion on our roadways and enhance opportunities for economic growth.
“There’s been enough time spent talking about and studying the proposal,” Cardinale concluded. “We need to all join together to get this expansion rolling.”
