Cardinale Sending Pizza to Washington to Bring Both Sides Together to End the Federal Shut Down

It’s National Pizza Month and given the love Americans share for this historic food, New Jersey Senator Gerald Cardinale is sending pizza today to Congress to encourage Republicans and Democrats to come together and solve the federal shut down.

“Americans this morning remain angry, concerned and confused as to why the world’s greatest democracy is not adequately functioning or serving them,” said Cardinale (R-Bergen, Passaic). “My staff and I have heard from constituents asking me to do something about this shut down. Rather than just pointing out that our representatives are acting like children, I thought establishing a common bond for those in Washington could help drive a solution.”

Senator Cardinale is ordering a variety of pizzas to be delivered around noon to Senator Harry Reid’s office in Washington.

“Since the early settlers, meals have been the catalyst to some of the most significant moments in American history,” Cardinale noted. “I’m not saying pizza is the solution to this mess, but it’s possible that something we all know and love could drive a solution or at least get the ball rolling for both sides to negotiate.”

Cardinale is urging the Majority Leader to call Congressional leaders of both political parties to come together over this ubiquitous food.

“Elected officials can move mountains for the people when we sit down, look each other in the eye and start conversations with what they have in common,” Cardinale concluded.
