Senator Bucco and Morris Business Leaders Release Economic Reopening Recommendations
A Morris County Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Task Force launched in late April featuring business, health and government leaders formalized its recommended reopening plan today to save businesses and jobs, with safe, risk-based mitigation measures. State Senator Anthony Bucco (NJ-25) will be forwarding the plan to the Governor and legislative leaders encouraging the Murphy Administration to review and adopt its guidance. Bucco will also use insights gained from the conversation with business owners to advocate for additional changes across state government.

The Task Force is chaired by Bruce Groves, President & CEO of Emilcott & Associates, an environmental health and safety firm, and the report received significant input from health executive and former hospital system CEO Joan White-Wagoner, as well as toxicologist and pathologist Deborah Barsotti, Ph.D. Mike Stanzilis Vice President of the Morris County Chamber also helped bring together key leaders from within the membership to support the Task Force.
O’Scanlon, DiMaso & Scharfenberger Commend Non-Essential Business and Construction Reopening

“The pandemic has dragged on for two years now and countless New Jersey residents remain on the outside looking in, unable to access the basic government services they expect and need,” said Senator Holzapfel. “People are fed up and they feel they have been abandoned by Trenton. Murphy has directed some state workers to stay home and collect a paycheck without going to the office to do their jobs. The situation is inexcusable, and it has to end now.”

“Important State offices, including unemployment walk-in centers, have been closed for nearly 19 months and completely inaccessible to New Jerseyans,” said Corrado (R-40). “Given the long wait, I hope the rumors aren’t true that some offices may have their reopenings pushed back beyond the date the governor set for his administration to get back to work. It would be yet another failure of leadership if Governor Murphy delayed the full reopening of State government any longer.”

“We have this perverse situation where unemployed workers with families still can’t get their benefits approved by the Murphy administration, while freeloaders who could go back to work continue to get checks they no longer deserve,” said Bucco (R-25). “I still have constituents who have been waiting months for their claims to be approved, and I have a growing number of businesses telling me that workers would rather stay on unemployment than return to work. On both sides of the equation, the Murphy administration is at fault.”

“Although many dining establishments have already taken measures to protect patrons from the coronavirus, so much of the guidance they receive varies by county or municipality,” said Bucco (R-25). “My legislation will provide clear and practical requirements for these businesses, which will be applied universally across New Jersey, so that they can recover and reopen as quickly as possible.”

Following the introduction of Senate Legislation that requires the Motor Vehicle Commission to provide all vehicle and licensing services in each of New Jersey’s 21 Counties, Senator Michael Testa, Assemblyman Erik Simonsen, and Assemblyman Antwan McClellan issued the following statement demanding that the South Jersey MVCs be open for all services:

“For nearly a year, the Murphy Administration and outgoing Commissioner Sue Fulton have left little but a trail of excuses on why the Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland County communities are without full services to the MVC. South Jersey families are forced to travel hours and miles away from their own local MVC to complete routine tasks; such as registration and titles which cannot be completed online. Too often, many make the drive only to be frustrated with office closures due to failures to contain the spread of COVID-19 within state-run centers.
