“In February, with the threat of the coronavirus looming, I pushed the NJDOE to offer guidance to school districts on educating students across New Jersey in a remote learning environment, particularly for those who did not have access to the tools and resources needed to complete their instruction at home.

“In May, I was disappointed when the governor vetoed bipartisan legislation I had sponsored to expand access to laptops, tablets, hot spot devices, and other technology.

“It is now July, and the governor has finally proposed a plan to help bridge the digital divide. While I wish the governor and his administration had acted sooner, I’m glad they are finally taking steps to help all students reach their full potential while learning outside of the classroom.”
