“The opioid crisis has hit South Jersey hard, and no family is immune to its devastating impact,” said Testa (R-1). “It’s so important for elected officials on a bipartisan basis to help our local communities tackle this crisis, providing those with substance abuse problems a second chance at life. While the road to recovery isn’t easy, this much-needed funding will assist in expanding and improving treatment services for our friends and family struggling with addiction in Cape May and Cumberland counties.”

Governor Phil Murphy recently announced $1.67 million in ‘County Innovation Awards to Address the Opioid Epidemic.’ The funding, provided through the New Jersey Department of Human Services, will assist local leaders and communities with their efforts and initiatives to combat the opioid epidemic.

Of that funding, $71,777 will go to Cumberland County to support early intervention and recovery treatment, and $35,751 to Cape May County to launch a peer recovery center.

“The challenges of every community are unique, including how to best meet the needs of those with addiction,” added Testa. “I am thankful for the Governor’s help in South Jersey’s fight to end this epidemic.”
