“I am excited to get to work on behalf of the residents of my district who are clamoring for a more affordable New Jersey,” said Stanfield, one of three new Republicans seated in the Senate.

“Our state is one of the most expensive in the nation. People are tired of aggressive taxes, and they are desperate for help,” Stanfield noted. “The affordability issue was my biggest priority when I went to the Assembly, and it remains my No. 1 goal as a new Senator.

“As a proud representative of the hard-working residents of my district, I am committed to finding ways to make New Jersey more affordable for seniors, growing families, and the businesses that provide jobs,” said Stanfield.

In the Assembly, Stanfield sponsored bills to help more seniors by expanding eligibility for the senior freeze program to help veterans struggling on fixed incomes.

“To provide relief to residents in my district and across the state, it is time to fix the school funding problem. The state should be fully funding our schools to keep taxpayers from having to pay more,” Stanfield said.

A 30-year veteran of county and state government, Stanfield served as Sheriff in Burlington County for 18 years before spending the last two years in the State General Assembly.

In addition to Stanfield, former Assembly Republican Leader Jon Bramnick and Edward Durr, who defeated incumbent Senate President Steve Sweeney, were also sworn to Senate seats.

“The landscape is changing in Trenton,” Stanfield said. “Momentum is growing, and it will be exciting to see changes that will once again make people proud to be New Jersey residents.”

Stanfield will share a legislative office in Lumberton with her districtmates and new Assemblymen Mike Torrissi and Brandon Umba.
