“The stormwater management systems being addressed by this project were severely damaged in Superstorm Sandy,” Senator Singer said. “Improvements to these pumping stations and bulkheads are vital to ensuring that Manasquan is shielded from future flooding. I’m glad we could secure NJEIT funding to will help protect clean water for our residents.”

In Manasquan, improvements will be made to upgrade the resiliency of infrastructure that was impacted by Superstorm Sandy. During the October 2012 storm, pumping station electronics were compromised and several bulkheads were damaged.

The funds will be used to elevate and enclose the pumping station on East Virginia Ave., as well as reconstruct and raise the bulkheads at several locations throughout the borough.

Signed by Governor Chris Christie in August, Senator Singer’s bills, S-2292 and S-2293, funded 80 eligible projects through the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust, including those in the “Storm Sandy and State Fiscal Year 2017 Clean Water Project Priority List” and the “Storm Sandy and State Fiscal Year 2017 Drinking Water Project Priority List,” as well as six clean water and two drinking water environmental infrastructure projects.
