Currently, goods produced in the state are designated as “New Jersey-Made” or “NJ-Made.” Under Oroho’s bill, A-2765/S-1838, there will be more options: “Made in New Jersey,” “Made in NJ,” or “MINJ.”

“New Jersey will always be the Garden State, but we cannot overlook the role manufacturing played in our state’s evolution. Today, the sector is expanding once again, becoming a robust economic force,” said Oroho (R-24). “These new designations will help call attention to New Jersey factories and plants, and the many, varied goods they produce. Regardless of the verbiage, a logo that boasts ‘Made in New Jersey’ delivers a strong message about the strength and capabilities of our manufacturing companies.”

The Assembly passed the bill on July 30, with a vote of 74-0. The Senate’s approval today means the bipartisan measure now goes to the Governor for consideration.

“New Jersey manufacturers supply products and parts to consumers and companies around the globe,” said Oroho, a member and former co-chair of the New Jersey Legislative Manufacturing Caucus. “Companies and their employees are working hard to once again establish our state as a dominant manufacturing hub in the northeast.”

Assemblymen Parker Space and Hal Wirths (both R-24) are sponsors of the Assembly bill.
