Pennacchio’s bill, S-772, would support women and minority farmers, and help encourage more of them to consider operating farms in the Garden State.
“I am extremely pleased that the Governor signed this bill into law today. Historically, minority and disadvantaged farmers have been neglected by programs designed to help with loans and other assistance,” said Pennacchio (R-26). “Too many have been unable to capitalize on affordable sources of financing for beginning farmers, emergency loans, and other costly expenses.”

“Children do not have the maturity to make life-changing medical decisions that cannot be reversed,” said Durr (R-3). “We cannot discount the fact that 10-, 11-, and 12-year-old children are extremely impressionable and can be influenced by adults who may push them to make choices they cannot fully comprehend. We can protect children from unnecessary and permanent harm by delaying these important decisions until they are adults.”
Pennacchio Blasts Murphy Administration’s Escalating Threats Over Sex Education
Senator Joe Pennacchio blasted the Murphy administration’s escalating threats to school districts that refuse to implement controversial new sex education standards imposed by the State Board of Education.

“Districts were repeatedly told that their local communities would get to decide how sex education is taught in their kids’ classrooms, but it’s increasingly clear that wasn’t the truth,” said Pennacchio. “The districts that have decided they don’t want to teach age-inappropriate lessons required by the new state standards have just been threatened again with discipline by the Department of Education. The governor should give us a ‘crisp answer’ on exactly what those punishments will be.”
O’Scanlon Attacks Example of Trenton’s “Outrageous, Arrogant, Anti-Science Overreach”
Introduces Bill Eliminating Certain COVID Sanitization Guidelines for Hotels
Following the implementation of a 2020 law that establishes sanitization guidelines for hotels in New Jersey, forcing them to do things such as change sheets in rooms every day, Senator Declan O’Scanlon introduced legislation that would revise certain sanitization protocols for all hotels.

“The current law requiring daily sanitization of every hotel room is so completely ludicrous and unnecessary, one has to wonder if anyone actually read the bill before they came out in support of it,” said Senator O’Scanlon (R-13). “No one will catch COVID from their own, used pillowcases or sheets. Sanitizing a room during your own, continued use of it will accomplish nothing…except to INCREASE your, and hotel staff, exposure to more potentially COVID positive people. And, what about the environmental impact? The countless gallons of water that will be needed to wash millions of sheets, pillowcases, etc. across the state every day, combined with the electricity and gas needed to dry them. My bill will undo this costly and wasteful legislation that should have never been implemented in the first place.”

“This is another example of Trenton Democrats leaping before they looked,” said Testa (R-1). “In their zeal to appease the Governor’s political allies, they passed a flawed bill that has created more problems. It is time to go back to the drawing board and get this right.”
Oroho & O’Scanlon Blast Secretive Health Benefits Deal
Senate Republican Leader Steven Oroho and Senate Republican Budget Officer Declan O’Scanlon released the following statement chiding the Murphy Administration for its handling of the sizeable increase in public employee health benefits costs:

Senators Steven Oroho and Declan O’Scanlon criticized the Murphy Administration’s backroom deal to spare some state workers from costly health benefits increases, but ignored the impact on towns, counties and their employees who will see costs skyrocket. (SenateNJ.com)
“We find the Murphy Administration’s complete lack of transparency regarding higher health care premiums that will result in massive property tax increases to be disconcerting, though it has been a pattern and comes as no surprise.

“I am proud this legislation was signed into law today. It is our duty to ensure the well-being of New Jersey’s veterans and their spouses,” said Testa (R-1). “Some veterans have suffered significant disabilities in the line of duty including permanent paralysis and loss of sight. This bill will offer some much needed financial relief and stability to these injured veterans, and their loved ones, during their time of need.”

“I am so proud that this legislation was signed into law today. Children of military service members face many unique responsibilities during their school years,” said Stanfield (R-8). “Between K-12, military children can move to different locations six to nine times, which separates them from family and friends as well as familiar social environments. This kind of upbringing means finding the right school is extremely important—and by designating certain educational institutions as ‘Purple Star Schools,’ we can call attention to schools that provide for the educational and social-emotional challenges military-connected students encounter.”

“Children are back in school, businesses are open as usual, and our roads and highways are as crowded as ever. It is fair to say the pandemic is in the rearview mirror and New Jersey is back to normal.
