With final elections tallies in, 9th District Legislators Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblywoman DiAnne C. Gove received the highest vote totals of any State Legislative candidate in either House for this year’s General Election.

According to election results provided by the New Jersey Division of Elections, Senator Connors received 31,601 votes while Assemblyman Rumpf and Assemblywoman Gove received 30,494 and 29,493 votes, respectively.

Following redistricting, five new municipalities were added to the 9th Legislative District: Seaside Park Borough and South Toms River in Ocean County; Galloway Township and Port Republic in Atlantic County; and Tabernacle Township in Burlington County.

To express gratitude to their constituents and outline their legislative priorities, Senator Connors, Assemblyman Rumpf and Assemblywoman Gove issued the following joint statement:

“Our Delegation is deeply grateful for the trust that the people of the 9th Legislative District have placed in us to continue serving as their State Representatives. Serving in public office is a privilege and a responsibility that our Delegation takes very seriously in representing the best interests of our constituency.

“Putting New Jersey residents back to work by improving our state’s ability to compete economically remains our Delegation’s top priority. While government cannot create jobs, it certainly can adopt policies that provide incentives to both small business and large companies so that they can be competitive and expand which, in turn, will foster economic growth.

“Promoting private-sector job growth starts with controlling government spending, reducing the state’s highest-in-the-nation tax burden and repealing onerous anti-business regulations. Collectively, these reform efforts offer the most comprehensive framework to rebuild the state’s economy for the long term. Revenue generated from economic growth is needed to protect critical programs, such as property tax relief, education funding and prescription drug assistance for seniors.

“Solving the serious budgetary challenges the state is confronted with is made even more difficult by a stagnant economy. It is our sincere hope that the Legislature continues working in a bipartisan fashion to build upon the very real progress made over the past two years in controlling government spending and in enacting other desperately needed reforms. Partisan gridlock in Trenton will not achieve anything at a time when many residents are rightfully demanding corrective action.

“Among our most pressing priorities will be to reach out to and open constructive dialogues with residents in towns new to the 9th Legislative District. Through constituent service work and by attending events held in these towns, we intend to build strong relationships with local residents in order to understand how to more effectively represent their interests.”
