“We have had years of experience working closely with JCP&L on power restoration events between severe storms and following Sandy,” said O’Scanlon. “They have been extremely responsive to our office. We’ve visited their headquarters yesterday and we are at it again today on the ground working with residents and leadership.”

“We’ve been consistently on the phone with JCP&L officials to make sure we prioritize our health care and senior facilities,” DiMaso continued. “I saw first hand the damage the storm did to our power lines and trees on numerous first aid calls during the night of the storm. There are a lot of issues for JCP&L to tackle as they work to safely restore power for our residents and we appreciate their responsiveness to our office thus far.”

“The immediate focus needs to be on getting everyone’s power restored. We plan to work with local officials and residents in making a list of criticisms and resiliency areas that we need to address with JCP&L following restoration. We understand how frustrating this is–we lost power during the storm as well–but everyone must take a breath and focus on communication, cooperation, and action now. There is plenty of time for assessment and criticism (and praise) if needed after restoration,” said O’Scanlon.

“Our office is here as a resource for all our residents and local officials. We remain in contact consistently with JCP&L and are here to help our towns move forward with full restoration and assist with any snags they might hit,” DiMaso concluded. “Rest assured we are compiling a list of issues to discuss with JCP&L and local leaders following power restoration, for now we must work together.”
