“It will be easier for organizations to conduct meetings, discuss priorities and take action if they don’t have to convene in person,” said Bucco (R-25). “It worked well during the pandemic, when virtual meetings were permitted. This bill would extend the option at the discretion and authority of nonprofit boards.”

During the pandemic, nonprofits could hold remote meetings. Under current law, the virtual alternative is only applicable during a state of emergency declared by the Governor.

Bucco’s bill, S-4112, eliminates the emergency requirement.

“There’s no need to restrict nonprofits from benefiting from technology that can make it more convenient to bring members together and increase productivity,” Bucco noted. “They should have the right to utilize the same advances that businesses have adopted.”
