Update on COVID-19 (6/4/2020)

As New Jersey continues under a state of emergency due to the coronavirus, please know that our district office remains available to serve constituents by phone and email. Included below are links to information that you may find helpful, along with important state and national news updates related to COVID-19.

Important State & Federal News:

  • Daily Briefing: Gov. Murphy will deliver a coronavirus briefing at  1 p.m. in Trenton. Click here to watch the livestream.
  • NJEDA Small Business Grants: The NJEDA has announced that Phase 2 of its Small Business Emergency Assistance Grant Program will begin accepting applications on Tuesday, June 9th at 9 a.m. The total program will award $45 million in federal CARES Act funding, with maximum grants of $10,000.   • Stage 2 of Reopening: The governor has announced that New Jersey will enter Stage 2 of reopening on June 15th, with additional openings, including:
    • Outdoor dining (beginning June 15th)
    • Limited in-person retail (beginning June 15th)
    • Hair salons and barber shops (beginning June 22nd)
    • Youth summer programs (beginning July 6th)
    • In-person clinical research/labs
    • Limited fitness/gyms
    • Limited in-person government services (e.g. Motor Vehicle Commission)
    • Museums/libraries
  • Continue Working from Home: As New Jersey enters Stage 2, the governor has advised that all workers who can work from home should continue to work from home.
  • Outdoor Dining Protocols & Liquor Licenses: An executive order was signed permitting outdoor dining starting on Monday, June 15th, with an accompanying Executive Directive from the New Jersey Department of Health that lays out health and safety standards that food or beverage establishments are required to follow. In addition, the governor announced a special ruling by the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control creating a pathway for liquor license holders to expand the premises on which they may serve alcohol.
  • United States 2020 Census: New Jersey’s response rate to the 2020 Census is currently 62.5%. The Census is of vital importance to our state and to our communities. Because we were under counted in 2010, New Jersey has not received billions of dollars that it was otherwise entitled to from the federal government. If you have not responded yet, you can complete the Census online here.

  • The latest data on coronavirus infections in New Jersey are available on the New Jersey COVID-19 Dashboard. The dashboard has been updated to provide more information on long-term care facilities, State psychiatric hospitals, and overall demographics on COVID-19 deaths.
  • New Jersey’s COVID-19 Information Hub includes valuable resources and information for families, workers, and employers who have questions or needs arising from the current crisis.
  • Testing Sites: There are currently 135 COVID-19 testing sites across the state. To locate a testing location, specifics on how to get a test, and the hours of operation, click here.
