Asbury Park School District’s “Building a Brighter Future” initiative has seen measurable success through enhanced literacy growth and graduation rates. Asbury Park continues to expand its academies with the addition of Allied Health, Engineering, and Law and Public Safety through a partnership with Monmouth County Vocational School District.

“Asbury Park is providing a wide range of new programs for their students, including before-and-after school STEM programs for middle school students,” Beck said. “The efforts of their teachers have resulted in a marked improvement in their growth targets.”

Commissioner Harrington was able to tour Long Branch School District’s Catrambone Elementary School and the Joseph M.  Ferraina Early Learning Center. Long Branch built the George Catrambone Elementary School facilities entirely with green technology. They have also partnered with William Patterson University in order to enhance the professional development of their staff.

“Long Branch has grown by over 1,100 students in the last 5 years,” Beck said. “They have a graduation rate of 92% and outperform districts with similar demographics by more than 65% in College and Career Readiness. This is just one example of the quality of education their teachers are providing.”
