Senator Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth) will next week bring Commissioner of Education Kimberley Harrington to schools in Asbury Park, Long Branch, Freehold Borough, and Red Bank, where the Commissioner will have the opportunity to join Senator Beck on a tour of each school and participate in a discussion on a variety of educational issues with school officials.

“The school officials, Commissioner Harrington, and I will meet with all have different challenges and accomplishments they want to highlight,” Senator Beck said. “Whether it is school funding, literacy, or career readiness each district is different and will have an opportunity to brief Commissioner Harrington on the unique issues impacting their students and schools.”

Senator Beck will bring Commissioner of Education Harrington to visit Red Bank and Freehold Borough Schools on Feb. 6; and Asbury Park and Long Branch Schools on Feb. 14. Each visit will include a school tour and meetings with the respective, school superintendents, principals, teacher, and board members, and an in-depth discussion on a variety of educational issues.

“These visits present an opportunity for our new Commissioner of Education to gain new insight and information that can be used to help students throughout New Jersey,” Senator Beck said.

Earlier this year, Beck worked closely with Superintendents Rumage and Tomazic, from Red Bank Borough and Freehold Borough respectively, to secure more state aid for their severely underfunded school districts. Monday’s visits to Red Bank and Freehold school districts will include opportunities for Commissioner Harrington to discuss issues related to school funding reform. Senator Beck has long advocated for school funding reform and has worked closely with school officials in Monmouth County to address this issue at the state and local level.
