Tom Kean Appoints Inverso, Harper to Ethics Posts

Republican Senate Leader Tom Kean has appointed former Superior Court Judge John J. Harper of Convent Station and former state Senator Peter Inverso of Hamilton to serve on the Joint Legislative Committee on Ethical Standards.

The Joint Legislative Committee on Ethical Standards is responsible for ensuring the ethical integrity of members of both the Senate and the Assembly. Among other duties, the committee reviews reports filed by legislators detailing their business and financial dealings.

“I know of no two people more qualified to safeguard the public from unethical behavior than Judge Harper and Senator Inverso,” Senator Kean said. “Both held themselves to the highest standards of ethical conduct while in public office.”

Voters of the 14th district elected Senator Inverso to five terms. He has also served on the Board of Freeholders in Mercer County, where he was born and raised his family. A graduate of Rider University, he is president and chief executive officer of Roma Financial Corp., an 85-year-old bank based in Robbinsville.

Harper is a former Morris County superior court judge who consistently received top ratings from the attorneys who argued before his court. An attorney with the firm of Laufer, Knapp, Dalena, Trimboli & Cadicina, L.L.C., he has legal degrees from both Rutgers and New York University. He is a member of the New Jersey and American Bar Associations.
