Senator Joe Pennacchio a member of the Senate Labor Committee issued the following statement today regarding the signing of the Paid Family Leave Act into law:
“In the first two months of this year New Jersey lost almost 11, 000 jobs. In fact, in January New Jersey lost nearly 20 percent of all jobs lost in the entire country.
“This state consistently ranks as the least business friendly state in America. A recent poll of business tax rates ranked us dead last among all of the states. Only the District of Columbia had a tax structure more unfriendly to business. Perhaps we should change the state motto to ‘Thank God for Washington D.C.’
This is just another reason for people and businesses to continue the exodus out of New Jersey to more affordable states. Sadly, those who are left behind will be burdened with an even higher share of taxes as misguided Democratic fiscal policies continue to strangle the state’s economy.”
