Senator Kevin O’Toole, a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations and Judiciary Committees, issued the following statement regarding Gov. Christie’s State of the State Address:
“Governor Christie’s focused on implementing, permanent, affordable tax reform for all New Jersey residents. His call to cut income taxes by 10 percent and to restore the earned income tax credit will provide relief to families across the state.
“There is still much more work to be done on an issue that affects all New Jersey families; improving education. Improving the educational system by providing school choice to parents and children in failing schools and reforming tenure will help ensure that our children are prepared to succeed in the 21st century economy.
“Governor Christie’s leadership was essential to the success we had solving difficult issues last session. The Governor’s economic initiatives will continue the expansion of the private sector workforce in New Jersey. In 2009 alone the state lost 117, 000 jobs. During Governor Christie’s tenure that trend has been reversed and in 2011 the state gained 60, 000 new private sector jobs.
“We can no longer delay solving our problems, we must tackle them head on and I look forward to another session of working to steer our State onto a path of prosperity and prominence.”
