Senator Kevin O’Toole (R-40) urged an end to the dispute between Madison Square Garden Company and Time Warner Cable, which continues to leave many passionate area sports fans in Bergen County without a way to watch their teams thrive.
O’Toole sent the following letter today:
James Dolan, Executive Chairman
The Madison Square Garden Company
Two Pennsylvania Plaza
New York, NY 10121-0091
Glenn A. Britt, Chairman and CEO
Time Warner Cable Inc.
60 Columbus Circle, 17th Floor
New York, NY 10023
Dear Mr. Dolan and Mr. Britt:
I am writing because you have the power and ability to overcome a dispute affecting residents in Bergen County, New Jersey, which is part of my legislative district.
Many of my constituents are passionate about their New York Knicks and Rangers but are suffering with more than 2 million others who cannot follow their teams on cable television.
As you are well aware, sports unite and uplift communities and people of all different racial and economic backgrounds. A restoration of sports programming is especially important as our local sports teams excel and economic constraints continue to prevent some families from attending the games in person.
I strongly urge both of you to get together and resolve this dispute. The fans of the Knicks and Rangers and all residents in the area deserve that.
Sincerely,
Senator Kevin O’Toole
New Jersey’s 40th District
