Oroho/Addiego Bill to Make New Jersey More Business Friendly Approved by Senate

Legislation sponsored by Senator Steve Oroho (R-24) and Senator Dawn Marie Addiego (R-8) that would make it easier for businesses to operate in the Garden State was approved by the New Jersey Senate. The legislation, S-1783, would require all state agency rules to be published in the New Jersey Register and posted prominently on department websites.

Oroho and Addiego said that the legislation would increase government transparency and remove an obstacle that prevents businesses from operating in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

“This bill is about creating transparency in the regulatory process and making sure that small businesses can easily find any rules that apply to them,” said Oroho. “By publishing rules and posting them on the web, we can eliminate a significant expense in time and money for small businesses that are trying to stay in compliance. Those efforts and resources can then be directed where they will do the most good – company growth and job creation.”

“Even for those with experience navigating the government bureaucracy, the process of finding the right person to get the right information can be difficult and time consuming. Businesses shouldn’t have to hire an army of lobbyists and lawyers to find information that should be publicly available,” added Addiego. “By making important regulatory information easier to find and publishing it in a uniform way, we can let businesses focus on doing what they do best – serving their customers, innovating new products and services, and creating jobs for New Jersey residents.”
