Resource Helps Businesses that Want to Locate, Grow or Expand in New Jersey

Legislation sponsored by Senator Steve Oroho (R-24) that would make the New Jersey Business Action Center a permanent component of the Department of State was passed by the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee today.

“The New Jersey Business Action Center is a concrete example of how the state can play a key role in helping grow, retain and attract businesses to New Jersey.” Oroho stated. “We need to make sure this worthwhile initiative stays in place and continues to serve as a resource for supporting businesses and creating jobs.”

In June of 2011, the Christie Administration established the Business Action Center to serve as a single point of contact for the business community. The Center provides answers to all business related questions in New Jersey and offers a wide range of services including help in identifying financing programs a business may be eligible for and guidance in navigating New Jersey’s regulatory processes. Oroho’s bill would codify the creation of the New Jersey Business Action Center into law so that it would become a permanent part of the Department of State.

“New Jersey must continue to move forward in creating and adopting reforms that will help spur economic growth and job creation in the state, ” Oroho continued. “While we have accomplished much in the last two years to create a friendlier business climate, much more needs to be done to reignite our state’s competitive advantage and fix the problems created by the McGreevey and Corzine era of higher taxes, unrestrained spending and increased debt.”

Oroho mentioned that over the past 18 months a budget was passed two years in a row that did not raise taxes, two comprehensive tax reform measures were signed into law and New Jersey’s burdensome regulatory environment is finally being addressed and reforms have begun to take place.

“These efforts, coupled with the creation of the Business Action Center are meant to make New Jersey an attractive venue for businesses to locate, grow and once again create private sector jobs, ” Oroho said. “I look forward to continuing to work with my fellow sponsor, Senator Fred Madden, on getting this bipartisan bill enacted into law.”
