“As the 14th anniversary of our nation’s darkest day approaches, we must ensure that as many people as possible have access to the 9/11 Memorial Museum that honors the thousands of our loved ones, friends and neighbors who tragically lost their lives and put their lives on the line for America during and after these terrorist attacks,” Kyrillos said. “As it is, the Memorial Museum is cost prohibitive for the average family, which is being charged more than $100 for a tour. This museum symbolizes our prevailing freedom, resilience against terrorism and gives hope for a brighter future. It is incumbent upon our federal government to designate this as a national memorial — and allow access that is on par with other national attractions in Washington — due to the far-reaching impact 9/11 has had on Americans, how it has united our nation, how it has revealed so many heroes and heroines to save and fight for our fellow citizens and country.”

“In honor of the sacrifice and bravery that many fellow Americans exhibited during one of the most significant and darkest chapters in our nation’s history, we must ensure that the 9/11 Museum is recognized and protected as a national memorial,” said Senator Sandra Cunningham. “A historical and cultural site, the 9/11 Museum is more than a tourist attraction. It is a symbol of our nation’s resilience against terrorism, a sign of respect to the lives lost that day, and a greater tribute to the country’s belief in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We must urge the President and Congress to designate this important site as a national memorial for our citizens today and for generations to come.”
