Economic Growth Withering in New Jersey

Senator Joe Kyrillos, (R-Monmouth/Middlesex), issued the following statement on the economic outlook for New Jersey and the need to attract new industry to the state:

“All recent published studies show that New Jersey’s economy is losing ground to other parts of America, which means the economic strategy for the State needs a complete overhaul if we plan to attract and grow businesses, create job, and sustain our quality of life.

“We must fundamentally change our state’s economic policies or New Jersey’s prosperity will wither. The past five years of anti-business policies have been bad for New Jersey’s economy and its residents.

“New Jersey was recently judged to have the nation’s second worse business climate by the non-profit Tax Foundation. That burden is especially felt by small business owners whose companies create the lion’s share of new high-wage jobs. Not only has New Jersey been chasing jobs away, it has also become an inhospitable place for high-net worth individuals to live. This will inevitably lead to more job losses.”

“It’s not enough for the governor to talk about a new economic policy. There must be real action. The stakes could not be higher. We are not only competing with other states to bring jobs to New Jersey, but with Europe, Asia and Africa. This is a race New Jersey cannot afford to lose.”
