Senator Michael Doherty, A members of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, announced today that he will hold a town hall meeting on the “fair school funding” plan. The town hall meeting will be held Monday, November 14, at 7:00 p.m. in The Stable 259 North Maple Avenue Ridgewood
The Senator has proposed a new school funding formula that is fair and equitable to all students in the state; urban, suburban and rural. The new formula be would implemented by constitutional amendment that would have to approved by the voters.
The proposed constitutional amendment will provide equal school aid for each student, regardless of where the student resides. New Jersey needs to establish a fair, simple, transparent, and straightforward educational funding formula that takes the income tax fund and distributes the fund equally to each student in order to control property taxes.
