One enacted initiative appropriates certain federal and State monies to implement the 2016 New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Financing Program. The second initiative authorizes the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust to expend up to $411.35 million and any unexpended balances from previous authorizations to make loans for environmental infrastructure projects for FY2017.

“Protecting drinking water supplies is a core responsibility of government that affects every resident living in the state. Further, clean water projects are essential to protect wildlife habitats as well as the health of our waterways.

“Under recently enacted legislation, six municipalities in our Legislative District in addition to the Ocean County Utilities Authority will receive financial assistance for vital projects amounting to more than $39 million. Residents of the 9th Legislative District will benefit tremendously as the Storm Sandy project loan program and the Barnegat Bay Watershed project loan program are set to receive financing.

“Approximately $140 million will be available for financing Sandy clean water project loans of which approximately $26.6 million will be subject to principal forgiveness. Additionally, $3 million will be available for principal forgiveness loans for stormwater runoff mitigation environmental infrastructure projects in the Barnegat Bay Watershed to continue addressing the critical water quality issues.”

The six 9th District constituent municipalities set to receiving financing for clean water and drinking water projects are Berkeley Township, Little Egg Harbor Township, Long Beach Township, Ocean Gate Borough, Ocean Township (Waretown) and Stafford Township.
