In an effort to increase awareness of services and programs offered by the state and other organizations, the 9th Legislative Delegation announced today that their office has received new informational guides which are available to the public.
Informational resources that can be obtained by contacting the joint Legislative District Office of Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt include:
- Emergency preparedness guides developed by the US Department of Homeland Security
- Citizen guides prepared by the Barnegat Bay Estuary Program offering helpful tips for small preventative measures on how to curb polluted runoff from reaching the Bay through storm drains
- The “Veteran Journal” prepared by the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs
“A primary aspect of the constituent services offered through our District Office has always consisted of raising public awareness of programs and services provided by the state and non-profit organizations,” said Senator Connors. “In addition to making available brochures prepared by government agencies and non-profit organizations, we prepare information guides that are tailored to the needs of our constituency based on inquiries and requests for assistance made of our office. Basically, we’ve designed our District Office to act as a clearing house for information beneficial to our constituents and the community.”
Informational guides prepared by the 9th District Legislators are also readily available for residents that focus on the following topic matters: senior services, veterans’ affairs, Megan’s Law and identity theft.
“Our Delegation has always made it a priority to actively seek out and make available informational guides as part of constituent services efforts,” added Assemblyman Rumpf. “For example, several brochures prepared by US Department of Homeland Security offer detailed guidance on how to prepare for emergency situations. The brochures are specifically designed for persons with disabilities and special needs, pet owners and businesses. A specific guide has also been developed for families, which includes a check list for basic supplies necessary to prepare for an emergency.”
“It’s impossible to get information from a program or service that you don’t know exists,” added Assemblyman Van Pelt. “Constituent services remain the hallmark of the 9th District Delegation’s representative efforts. We are proud of the fact that our Legislative District consists of large segments of seniors and veterans. In order to effectively serve our constituency, it is essential that our office is adept in directing individuals to the services and programs that can provide assistance.”
The 9th District includes Barnegat, Barnegat Light, Beach Haven, Beachwood, Berkeley, Eagleswood, Harvey Cedars, Lacey, Lakehurst, Little Egg Harbor, Long Beach, Manchester, Ocean, Ocean Gate, Pine Beach, Ship Bottom, Stafford, Surf City and Tuckerton in Ocean County; Bass River and Washington townships in Burlington County and Folsom Borough and Hammonton Township in Atlantic County.
