District 11

Kean, Rible & Angelini Offer Assistance To Those Filing Unemployment Claims

Legislative Office Will Help Public File Unemployment Claims

Senator Sean Kean, Assemblyman Dave Rible and Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini will make the 11th district legislative office computers available to constituents for the purpose of filing for unemployment benefits online.

“Due to the record number of people filing for unemployment benefits, many people have been experiencing difficulties in their attempts to get through to the Department of Labor,” said Kean. “Our goal is to assist the public to help them file their unemployment claims in a timely manner.”

The Department of Labor and Workforce development uses an automated phone system for the purpose of filing unemployment claims that has been known to suffer frequent breakdowns.

“We have seen a huge increase in layoffs and as a result many people are filing for unemployment,” said Rible. “These people do not need the added frustration of being unable to file for their benefits in addition to the hardships that come along with being unemployed.”

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, in December the number of unemployed persons increased to 11.1 million and the national unemployment rate rose to 7.2 percent.

“We are committed to offering any resources to people having a problem trying to file unemployment claims,” said Angelini. “We want the public to feel free to utilize our staff and our computers to try to submit their applications online.”
