Hugh J. Boyd Elementary School Teacher Nancy Corsaro Honored
Senator Andy Ciesla and Assemblymen Jim Holzapfel and Dave Wolfe (all R-10) presented the 10th annual “Excellence in Education Award” during a ceremony recently at the Hugh J. Boyd Elementary School in Seaside Heights to art teacher Nancy Corsaro.
“Mrs. Corsaro stands as a symbol of excellence in teaching and is a model for those who teach or desire to make a difference in our children’s present and future, ” said Ciesla. “She brings her creativity, passion and knowledge to the classroom each day which resonates with the children and encourages learning. It is an honor to present the Tenth Annual Excellence in Education Award to such an outstanding educator.”
The 10th District legislators present the Excellence in Education Award annually to the elementary, middle school or high school teacher within the legislative district who best exemplifies commitment and dedication to classroom teaching.
“Mrs. Corsaro has proven to be one of the most effective and innovative teachers by going above and beyond the expected teaching requirements, ” added Holzapfel. “The district’s Teacher of the Year award is aimed at honoring those teachers who exceed expectations to provide meaningful and rewarding learning experiences to their students. Mrs. Corsaro truly exemplifies ‘Excellence in Education.’”
A graduate of Montclair State University and resident of Toms River, Mrs. Corsaro started her career at Hugh J. Boyd in 1999 and since then has given her time after school for many extra curricular programs. As a teacher of Gifted and Talented, the Art Club advisor and teacher of EXCEL, a program for students who have difficulty in Math and Language Arts, Mrs. Corsaro’s dedication to teaching is visible inside and outside of the classroom. Her teaching style allows for students to discover their own talents and abilities to help develop a sense of pride and positive self esteem.
“This award is given out each year to an exceptionally skilled and dedicated teacher who has the respect and admiration of students, teachers, administrators and the community.” said Wolfe. “Mrs. Corsaro’s outstanding resume is a reflection of the Seaside Heights school district and she serves as an ambassador for all excellent teachers in the state.”
