Ciesla, Wolfe & Holzapfel Announce Extended Deadline for Filing Property Tax Rebate Applications

The legislators from the 10th District have announced that the State of New Jersey has extended the deadline for filing property tax rebate applications. Residents who have not filed their 2007 Homestead Rebate or Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement Program) applications by the original August 15 deadline will now have until October 31, 2008 to do so.

“This is a great opportunity for eligible residents to receive property tax relief, ” said Senator Andy Ciesla. “In these tough economic times, people should not miss out on tax relief that they deserve.”

The Property Tax Reimbursement Program reimburses eligible senior citizens and disabled persons for property tax increases. Residents may also receive a rebate through the Homestead Rebate Program which reimburses people for a portion of the school taxes they pay each year.

“Property taxes in New Jersey are at an all time high and the senior community is feeling the strain more than ever, ” said Assemblyman Dave Wolfe. “We’ve seen too many seniors leave New Jersey for more affordable states. Hopefully these rebates and reimbursements will help make New Jersey a little bit more affordable for those who are struggling.”

“For those residents who have had trouble with their applications, the extended deadline will help ensure that you have enough time to file and receive your rebate, ” said Holzapfel. “Our office helps hundreds of people every year to file for their rebates, so feel free to contact us if you need any help.”

The 10th District Office can assist residents from within the district with questions regarding eligibility or application filing. The 10th District Office may be contacted from Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM at 732-840-9028.
