“There is a clear delineation between the budget passed by Democrats and signed into law by Governor Corzine, and the budget proposal put forth by myself and my Republican colleagues. Our plan was designed to make New Jersey more affordable for middle class taxpayers. The governor’s plan does exactly the opposite.

Senator Tom Kean (R-21)
Senate Bill 1962, legislation sponsored by Senate Republican Leader Thomas Kean that would require state employees to work at least 35 hours per week to garner state pension benefits, cleared the Senate State Government Committee today. The bill would also raise the annual salary requirement to enroll in Defined Benefit Retirement Program from $1,500 per year to $5,000 per year.

The Senate Environment Committee has approved legislation (S-1825) sponsored by Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean (R-21) that authorizes the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust to provide funding to 107 water infrastructure projects statewide. The legislation is part of a package of bills that will provide approximately $705 million in financing from the Trust to 133 environmental infrastructure projects.
