Governor Signs Connors, Rumpf & Van Pelt Senior Community Age Restriction Legislation Into Law

Legislation championed by Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt to prevent improper sale or transfer of property to those who do not meet the age requirements of a senior community has been signed into law by the Governor.

Connors, Rumpf & Van Pelt Draft Veteran Rental Assistance Initiative

Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt (all R-Ocean/Burl./Atl.) announced today they will be introducing legislation to require a portion of tenant-based assistance vouchers under the State Rental Assistance Program be reserved for grants to veterans. The 9th District Legislators intend to introduce their initiative at the next quorum of their respective Houses.

Connors, Rumpf & Van Pelt Bill Would Require Identification of Transportation Infrastructure Needs in Coastal Areas

Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt announced today they will be introducing legislation requiring a government assessment of the current condition of coastal counties’ transportation infrastructure, primarily focused on identifying upgrades needed for emergency evacuations. The findings by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and NJ Transit would be finalized in a report to be submitted to the Senate and Assembly Transportation Committees. Counties that would be evaluated under the 9th District Legislators’ initiative would consist of Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem counties.

Connors, Rumpf & Van Pelt Submit Testimony in Opposition to United Water Toms River Rate Increase

Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt today re-submitted testimony in the official public record of testimony in opposition to the petition by United Water Toms River to increase rates by 93 percent, which would affect residents in this Legislative District living in Berkeley Township. Hearings on the petition are scheduled to take place on August 21 and 22 in Newark. The 9th District Delegation remarks were as follows:

Connors, Rumpf & Van Pelt: Harvey Cedars Situation Shows Need for State Funding Formula to Acquire Beach Easements

Concerned over potential property damage and the loss of federal funding, the 9th District Delegation announced today it will be introducing legislation calling on the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to devise a funding formula within the Shore Protection Fund for the acquisition of beach easements as required by the federal government in beach replenishment projects.

Connors, Rumpf & Van Pelt Want Towns Reimbursed by the State for Municipal Police and Emergency Services Performed on State Roads

The 9th District Delegation announced today it will be introducing legislation that would require the state to reimburse municipalities for the cost of municipal police protection and emergency services performed by a municipality on State roads that run through the municipality. The amount of reimbursement provided under the legislation would be based on a formula which considers the total number of miles of State roads contained in the municipality.

Connors-Rumpf-Van Pelt: Court Decision Shows Immediate Need for Statewide Sex Offender Residency Restriction Law

Reacting to a recent State Appellate Court ruling that rejected local residency restrictions for sexual offenders in two municipalities, Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt are calling for their legislation to be heard in establishing a uniform, statewide law that would restrict convicted sexual offenders from residing within 500 feet of a school, child daycare center or playground.

Connors-Rumpf-Van Pelt Eyeing Reduction in State Fleet Fuel Costs

Three primary State agencies would be required to formulate a plan to increase the fuel efficiency of the State motor vehicle fleet to achieve measurable reductions in fuel usage under legislation recently introduced by Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt. The 9th District Legislators’ action was taken in response to record increases in gas prices.

The Senate Law and Public Safety and Veterans’ Affairs Committee today released an anti-crime initiative (S-1781) sponsored Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt that would require owners of scrap metal yards to maintain purchasing records for transactions involving metals.
