Legislation introduced by Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt to prohibit sexual offenders from living within 500 feet of a school, daycare center or playground was released by the Assembly Judiciary Committee today. The 9th District Delegation’s measure, A-285, was among several bills on the Committee’s agenda that primarily focused on Megan’s Law.

Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt have introduced legislation to establish a 15-member Alzheimer’s Disease Study Commission.
The Commission’s duties would include, but not be limited to, studying the current impact and incidence of Alzheimer’s disease among residents and make projections on the future impact on the state’s population, study the state’s role in long-term care for persons with early stage and early onset of Alzheimer’s disease and consider the capacity of public safety and law enforcement to persons with Alzheimer’s disease.

Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt are reassuring constituents that their Legislative District Office will not be shutting its doors for any furlough days and will remain open to the public. The 9th District Legislators made the announcement today in response to inquiries made by constituents regarding the implementation of the Governor’s plan requiring one-day furloughs for state employees in the months of May and June.

The Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee today favorably released legislation (S-2182) introduced by Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt (all R-Ocean/Burl./Atl.) that would require a portion of tenant-based assistance vouchers under the State Rental Assistance Program be reserved for grants to veterans.

9th District Delegation Cites Potential Disruption in Medical Services and Tax Increases as Primary Concerns
Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblyman Daniel M. Van Pelt today wrote Governor Corzine conveying their opposition to the proposed funding cut to the Emergency Medical Training Fund currently under consideration by the Administration. In their communication, the 9th District Legislators apprised the Governor of the negative feedback they have received from emergency technician personnel concerned with the negative consequences that would likely result from raiding the Fund.
