Governor should take responsiblity for plan rather than hiding behind Turnpike Authority

Senator Jennifer Beck, and Assembly members Declan O’Scanlon and Caroline Casagrande, this afternoon said that Governor Jon Corzine’s proposal to nearly triple tolls on the Turnpike and Garden State Parkway will hurt commuters who use those roads and further damage our state’s economy without adequately addressing the future of the Transportation Trust Fund.

Beck Letter to Governor Paterson Demands NY Pay Its Fair Share of Trans-Hudson Tunnel

In a letter sent today, Senator Jennifer Beck asked Governor David Patterson of New York to contribute to the cost of the $7.5 billion trans-Hudson rail tunnel. The current breakdown of costs for the tunnel is $1.5 billion from New Jersey, $3.5 billion from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and $3 billion from federal sources.

Republican Judiciary Committee Members Ask that Parole Board Member Charlie Jones Be Removed

The Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee have sent letters to Governor Jon Corzine and Judiciary Committee Chairman John Adler asking that they take action to remove State Parole board member Charlie Jones from his position. In a letter to Judge William Martini, Mr. Jones alleged that the Federal indictment and jury conviction of Mayor Sharpe James were nothing more than political acts.

Beck, O’Scanlon & Casagrande to Join Legislation Regarding Advanced Degrees

12th District legislators Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande announced today that they would merge legislation they had been drafting prohibiting school employees from receiving raises based on degrees from non-accredited schools, or the schools paying for courses from such institutions, with legislation being drafted by Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini and Assemblyman David Rible.

Beck, O’Scanlon & Casagrande Hail Agreement Between Racetrack, Water Authority to Reduce Runoff to Branchport Creek

12th District legislators Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande and Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon today hailed an agreement between the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA), operator of Monmouth Racetrack, and the Two Rivers Water Reclamation Authority (TRWRA) to increase the amount of wastewater runoff handled by the Authority by up to 200,000 gallons a day, depending on weather conditions, thereby lessening the amount of wastewater running directly into Branchport Creek.
