Decision Not to Indict Illegal Immigrant in Accident that Killed Teacher Strengthens Legislators’ Resolve to Have Their Bill-Package Become Law
Assemblywoman Dawn Marie Addiego and Assemblyman Scott Rudder today vowed to work tirelessly in support of their immigration reform package after a grand jury failed to indict an illegal immigrant and unlicensed driver in the accident that killed a 27-year-old Evesham teacher.

The 8th District Lawmakers Will Introduce Bill Banning Automatic Rate Increase Mechanisms, Like the One the Water Company Seeks from BPU
New Jersey American Water Co.’s request for a new surcharge that would lead to automatic quarterly rate increases drew the ire today of Assemblywoman Dawn Marie Addiego and Assemblyman Scott Rudder.
“To allow New Jersey American or any other utility company to have automatic rate increases is foolhardy and irresponsible. Residents in this state are already paying exorbitant rates for utilities,” said Assemblywoman Addiego. “We can not tolerate this recklessness that will guarantee spiraling water bills in the state.”

Pennsylvania Mother Ran Off to Disney World with Her Daughter After Reporting to Police They Had Been Kidnapped by ‘Two Black Men’
Assemblywoman Dawn Marie Addiego and Assemblyman Scott Rudder today announced they will introduce legislation increasing the penalties for anyone who makes a false report to law enforcement authorities.
“We want to make sure New Jersey doesn’t have its own version of the highly publicized case in Pennsylvania that wasted the time and money of law enforcement departments searching for a ‘kidnapped’ woman and her child,” said Assemblywoman Addiego.

All six Republicans on the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee rejected Governor Corzine’s election-year budget today because its reliance on one-shot revenue and gimmicks will create a fiscal crisis that pushes the state closer to insolvency.

Anne Milgram Will Decide How to Distribute $30 Million in Federal Stimulus Money to Police Departments in NJ
Assemblywoman Dawn Marie Addiego and Assemblyman Scott Rudder are calling on Attorney General Anne Milgram to appropriate federal stimulus money to Burlington County municipalities to combat gang activity and rising crime.
“Gangs are now a problem in our communities, our schools and our prisons,” said Assemblywoman Addiego. “We can not afford to spend this money without seeing results. An injection of stimulus money will enable law enforcement to keep our neighborhoods safe, and we’re asking the Attorney General to make that a priority.”

Dozens of Choices the Governor Could Make to Create Jobs and Make New Jersey Affordable for the Middle Class
Republican members of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee have joined with their colleagues in the Assembly to prepare a blueprint for change that Governor Corzine can adopt to save taxpayers $783 million. These are ideas that will generate savings the governor can use to help businesses create desperately needed jobs or to return money to taxpayers crying out for help with their mounting bills during this recession.

Lawmakers Will Introduce a Four-Bill Package of Immigration Reform
Assemblywoman Dawn Marie Addiego and Assemblyman Scott Rudder are prepared to introduce a package of four bills that emphasize that illegal immigrants are persona non grata in New Jersey.
“If you want to come here and get your piece of the America Dream, you are going to have to follow the rules,” said Assemblywoman Addiego.

An Assembly Resolution to prevent the relocation of detainees from Guantanamo Bay to New Jersey soil has been introduced by Assemblywoman Dawn Marie Addiego and Assemblyman Scott Rudder.
“We want to lock the gates and keep these terrorists out of our state,” said Assemblyman Rudder. “We don’t want them. We don’t need them. And nothing good can come from having them here.”

Republican members of the senate Budget Committee released the following statement following budget meetings Thursday:
Governor Corzine bristles when anyone points out failed policies that have worsened today’s budget mess and reflexively labels them as ”partisan.” However, unless he acknowledges failed policies, he will never be able to correct them and things won’t get much better for people in New Jersey.
Here are some of the failed policies that have made our situation worse.
