Senate Republican Budget Officer Tony Bucco issued the following statement regarding the Senate Budget and Appropriation Committee’s hearing today on infrastructure problems at the Motor Vehicle Commission:
“These problems were not created overnight; they are the result of years of neglect of the state’s IT system. The Christie Administration cannot be expected to snap its fingers and make the problem go away overnight, and certainly not when the Majority’s idea of fiscal discipline is to pass a budget that is nearly $1 billion in the red.”
“The impact of budget reductions on MVC service and lines is minimal, at best. This is an issue of technology. To the extent that funding reductions had any impact at all, the fault lies with the Democratic Majority whose eight years of fiscal recklessness and spending beyond the state’s means to pay necessitated those difficult decisions.”
