Legislation sponsored by Senator Anthony Bucco (R-Morris, Somerset) to help members of the United States Armed Forces while they are deployed for active service is now law after it was signed by Governor Chris Christie.
“Serving during a time of war is a heavy burden that these service members shoulder every day while they’re away from home,” Senator Bucco said. “They have so much to deal with while they are away fighting for the rest of us, and I think it’s important that we give them one less thing to worry about.”

The legislation, S-2086, would allow agencies to waive, reduce or defer in billing for their services while a member of the armed forces is deployed for active service during a time of war. There would be no interest accrued during the period of deferment.
“I am proud of this law that supports our troops,” Senator Bucco said. “These individuals sacrifice so much to protect our country. This law will do something to pay them back and show our gratitude.”
