Bucco: Corzine Should Disclose Bailout Talks

What Discipline Will Washington Demand to Close Corzine’s Deficit?

Senate Republican Budget Officer Anthony R. Bucco (R-Morris) called on Vice President Biden and Governor Corzine to disclose the details of negotiations that are underway with the Obama Administration to provide another federal bailout for the State of New Jersey.

“Jon Corzine has shown the same talent for budgeting that the AIG executives had for making prudent investments,” said Bucco. “Now that leading Democrats are openly promoting the notion of the Obama Administration stepping in to provide another bailout deal that would rescue the State from the Governor’s fiscal mismanagement, the taxpayers deserve to know what kind of arrangement is being discussed.”

“When the federal government stepped in to avert the looming bankruptcy of New York City in the 1970’s, significant conditions were imposed as a condition of taking the bailout. People have a right to know if Governor Corzine is putting our state into some form of receivership in order to beg money from federal taxpayers to avert a fiscal meltdown,” said Bucco.

“When the federal government bailed out General Motors, they fired the CEO. Lucky for the Governor the State Constitution has Jon Corzine’s back.”
