Former Parole Board Member Pitches Cost Cutting Measures
Senator Anthony Bucco, the Senate Republican Budget Officer, issued the following statement regarding a proposal by a member of the State Parole Board that would save the agency millions of dollars.
“Governor Corzine has repeatedly promised the taxpayers of this state that he had ’scrubbed’ the budget. Sadly, it seems that many agencies, including the State Parole Board, were ignored or overlooked throughout that process.
“The Corzine Administration must be willing to explore every possible revenue savings proposal, especially since the state is experiencing an unprecedented drop in revenues. The common-sense solutions proposed by Mr. Doyle include limiting the use of state cars and insisting that employees of the Parole Board work full time.
“The Corzine Administration has an obligation to ensure that the taxpayers of the state are impacted as little as possible during this economic downturn. Unfortunately, history has proven that this administration is unwilling to take the necessary steps to return New Jersey to prosperity.”
