Senator Jennifer Beck (R- Monmouth/Mercer) lauded Governor Christie’s approval of two pieces of legislation designed to strengthen New Jersey’s horse racing industry by expanding betting options in New Jersey.
Beck is co-prime sponsor of S-3115, establishing a pilot program to allow betting in bars and restaurants on horse races, and S- 3185, which extends the deadline for issuing the remainder of the state’s off-track wagering (OTW) licenses. Both bills were signed by the Governor.
“Expanding betting options is an important part of the plan to make New Jersey’s horse racing industry financially sound and sustainable,” said Beck. “Convenience wagering options are essential to keeping bets in state rather than moving to tracks in New York or Pennsylvania. The bills signed by the Governor are important to Monmouth County and the entire state, which benefits from the open space preserved and jobs created as a result of horse farming and racing.”
